Strong Discipline

The United Kingdom 5aside & 6aside Association (UKMA) promotes strong discipline within the sport of small-sided football and has the authority to issue disciplinary fines and ban periods against any player or team who commits a disciplinary offence within a UKMA affiliated league.

In the case of a disciplinary offence occurring in a UKMA affiliated league, details of the offence will be submitted to the UKMA by the league provider and a disciplinary fine and/or ban period will be issued to the responsible person for the team. The responsible person for the team will be outlined in the league provider’s Terms and Conditions. In the majority of cases the responsible person for the team will be the Team Captain.

There are five Disciplinary Fine Bands, which determine the size of the disciplinary fine which should be issued for the disciplinary offence. Details of the Disciplinary Fine Bands and their associated fine amounts and ban periods will be included in the league provider’s Terms and Conditions. For further information on the Disciplinary Fine Bands please click here.

Failure to pay disciplinary fines may result in the disciplinary fine being transferred to our external debt collectors and the team being banned by the league provider. Please note that disciplinary fines are payable regardless of the team’s status within the league (i.e. the team is still playing in the league, has left the league or has been banned from the league).

Team Captains and/or players are permitted to appeal against disciplinary fines and ban periods. There are two appeals procedures in place for disciplinary fines. The first informal appeal procedure applies to Fine Bands 1 & 2 (£10 and £15 disciplinary fines) and is designed to provide further information about the disciplinary offence, fine and/or ban period when requested. The second formal appeal procedure applies to Fine Bands 3, 4 & 5 (£20, £50 and £100 disciplinary fines). For further information about the UKMA Disciplinary Fine Appeals Procedures please click here.

Payment of disciplinary fines should be made directly to the UKMA through the ‘Pay My Fine’ section on the Home Page of our website. Disciplinary fines cannot be paid to the league provider directly. Collected fine payments will be split between the UKMA and the league provider. Please note that the UKMA is a not-for-profit organisation and all profits will be given to charitable causes.
