The UK Minifootball Federation is delighted to announce that trials will be held in April to begin the selection process for the England 6 a side squad to take part at miniEURO2013.

The trials will take place on Sunday April 28th 2013 from 12-2pm at Shelfield Community Academy in Walsall on the excellent Astroturf facilities there.

Speaking about the trials UKMA’s Philip Stevens said they were a very exciting development, adding: “We look forward to seeing anyone who thinks they are good enough to represent England at the miniEURO2013 tournament and in future matches, on Sunday 28th.”

Philip also explained that the trials have not been organised because UKMA were unhappy with the current England squad – who last week ran out 6-1 victors against Bulgaria in a friendly at Wembley – but rather because of a desire to open up the England team to make it truly representative of the whole country. “The team have done exceptionally well, and are showing real signs of progress. The display last week was marvellous, but we are mindful that most of the players were London based and we want to make sure the whole country feels part of what we are trying to do.

“That is why we have chosen a central location, so that people from all over the place can come and try and get their big shot.”

The United Kingdom Minifootball Association will also be sending teams from Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland to miniEURO2013. Trials for the remaining Home Nations will be announced in the coming weeks.

The venue for the tournament will be revealed very soon.
